Militant Blew Up Pipeline In Ogun State

Suspected militants have destroyed a gas pipeline around PZ Estate, in Ogijo, Ogun State.
The militants, who were said to have attacked the gas pipeline with an explosive device, posed to residents as maintenance officers of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mosimi Depot.

It was gathered that the incident occurred last Tuesday and the affected pipeline serves as a distribution line  for some companies in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, told reporters that the command had deployed its men to the area.
“Some hoodlums on Tuesday went and burst a part of a gas pipeline around PZ in Ogijo.
“We heard they pretended to be officials of a company in charge of the maintenance of the gas pipeline, and the residents were deceived by this ploy.
“We don’t want to conclude yet that they were militants, but we call them criminals. We will get them wherever they are.
“The command had deployed men in the area, and we are working with other security agencies. The Divisional Police Officer, Ogijo, Mohammed Tijani, and his team are also there. The Lagos State Police Command  deployed men in the area,” Adejobi said.
According to him, officials of the NNPC were already carrying out repairs on the affected section of the gas pipeline.
