Public Schools in
Oyo State have remained shut in spite of the state government’s directive to
reopen on Monday (yesterday).
Newsmen who went
round Ibadan observed that the gates of both primary and secondary schools in
the state were not opened after four weeks of closure as both teaching and
non-teaching staff were also absent.
Few students who
spoke with newsmen said they had hoped the schools would be open following the
directive by the state government that schools should re-open on Monday (yesterday)
It will be recalled
that a statement signed by Mr. Toye Arulogun, the state’s commissioner for
information, culture and tourism last week said that the state government
decided to reopen the schools with effect from Monday, July 11, excluding the
17 schools that participated in the June 6, 2016, violent demonstration.
